Mountain Lodge Telluride - 2o23
Project by Horn Brothers Roofing and Quantum Daylite Solutions
This is an excellent example of two mechanical systems coming together to form an architectural work of art. The standing seam roof system provides the landscape for intentionally placed skylights, which introduce natural light into the luxury mountainside log cabins, condominiums, and clubhouse - located at the Mountain Lodge Telluride ski-in/ski-out resort.
The Horn Brothers Roofing team did an excellent job of planning and coordinating the project, to execute the installation of approximately 1,000 squares (100,000 sq. ft.) of 24 gauge 1.5" Mechanical Lock Standing Seam, in 6 months time. Quantum Daylite Solutions was responsible for selecting 75 VELUX skylights, equipped with a stain grade wood interior to complement the log cabin architecture.
From an engineering standpoint, this is an effective and robust system. The interlocking panels are an excellent choice against water infiltration and carry a Class A fire rating; not to mention the low maintenance, durability and solar heating protection. The Boston Vents provide more than adequate ventilation while adding to the sleek mechanical appearance of the roof's architectural geometry. The snow fence acts as a defense against a sudden avalanche of ice and snow during the long winter months.
Despite the many challenges we faced, we successfully completed the project before the onset of winter, thanks to the project managers' leadership and everyone who had a direct hand in the process.
